Respect - if you ran or crawled.
My highest respect and congratulations to all those of you who managed the Great South Run yesterday. Watched it on the box (Channel 5) and was pleased to see so much of Pompey showcased by the cameras in addition to the thrilling races for all age groups and abilities.
Even if it took you a couple of hours to drag yourself around the course - Well Done.
I sincerely hope all your fund raising activities lead to lots of dosh being donated to many worthwhile causes throughout the City and beyond.

Adam the Blue was one who ran, well done to all who made it. Dave and Lee Waterman ran for their charity and I think Awfs forgot his managerial duties to run also. A word of thanks to all those volunteers who helped the event go smoothly. :star:
re: Respect - if you ran or crawled.
As a sop to my conscience and my lapsed fitness routine I am going for a two/three mile walk on Thursday along the Canal @ Ripley calling @ Ockham Mill and probably spotting John Donne's (Ask not for whom the bell tolls; No man is an island, etc) house - although he didn't write these until much later when Dean of St Pauls.
This is one of the problems when you are not allowed to run, yet when younger ran everywhere and all the time - you have to take on an alternative like Rambling.

Saw most of that on the TV. Pity the TV station spent three quarters of their time showing, re-running and analysing the elite performers. I know they are important but maybe someone could have a word to say the real stars could also do with a bit more air time.
Good effort by all concerned. :star:
