Chien's other team OGC Nice have slumped to 8th place on the final day of the French season leaving them out of all European competition next season. It means a loss of about £17million in income next season. The relevant results were

Metz 0 Bordeaux 4 taking Bordeaux above Nice
St Etienne 5 Lille 0 taking St Etienne above Nice
OGC Nice were a Champions League club in the period Chien took over but have gradually declined in fortunes since.
Followed it all night on my app , how sad am I but none the less interested enough to see how it finished up .
Now comes the hard bit for Mr Lee and his consortium and the real world of owning football clubs .
