Housing Minister Robert Jenrick was stood behind the Downing St lectern bearing these words the other day and repeated the advice during his Press Conference.

MP's often have several residences for work reasons and I can agree with him driving from London to his residence in Hertfordshire since his wife and children were already there.

However the rule abart not taking unnecessary travel has been flouted in my opinion when he then decided to drive another 40 miles to his parents home in Shropshire to "deliver some medicines". Every local pharmacy I know does local deliveries and there is a National Volunteer Scheme that could have been used to avoid this travel. Smacks of "Do as I say, not as I do."

At the start of a holiday weekend when many morons will be looking for ways of flouting the rules this is a very poor example to set from a Cabinet Minister and sends out the wrong message.

Such a D!ck. after what happened with the woman in Scotland he should have known the consequences. Im in a position where I feel guilty going to drop shopping off to my parents 4 miles away and Dads terminal, thankfully the local Chemist and Docs have been fantastic. I have to go with shopping, if we really have to, but the less anyone goes near the better. We don’t know the full extent of his parents health issues, but Neighbours confirmed they have helped deliver shopping. I’d be damned embarrassed if as a 40 odd year old man I hadn’t the sense to ring the local doctor and direct the script to the Chemist and then ask chemist and say “Can you deliver my parents Script please”
And he’s a Cabinet minister?
We are doomed !

We did the shopping for our stepdaughter and partner , they live in Rotherham and obviously dropped it off for them as they haven't any transport of their own .

Ok it's not a 80 mile round trip but absolutely no way are we comfortable them risking going out to a supermarket with our 5 month old grandson at risk .

We just dropped it on their doorstep and saw the little chap through the window .

It's a difficult time and it's killing us not seeing our grandson .

However it's better than risking them catching the virus .

Good job pubs are closed cos they would be 1000s of mingmongs flouting the stay in

It’s very hard Animal, very hard, mine and yours are similar situations at the opposite ends of the scale, one new life, one old one... we have to stay away to protect both. I’ve dropped shopping off, you can’t have them starve.... Mum had to be told though that a new big brush wasn’t a necessity at this time !! Lol

I must admit that I find the definition [if there is one] of necessity somewhat confusing
If you bought shopping ie bread, milk, potatoes, cleaning products,loo rolls etc would you not be able to add a brush to that list?
If that is regarded as non essential then prohibit shops from selling them
Not intending to pick any argument but just asking the question

If the shop is open, and it sells something you want, then you should be able to buy it. However, its also about managing expectations Exile. I go to one shop for food. If they don’t sell bog brushes....I’m not tramming round. Or next time I’ll be going for knitting wool. ( although I need a new scarf for when the season starts in January !

The number of shops selling food include M&S,Sainsburys,Tesco,Morrisons,Co-Op B&M,Home Bargains,Aldi.Lidl ,Spar & even your corner shop are all purveyors of thousands of non essential items as well

Police in Gtr Manchester had to break up over 650 house & street parties last weekend.
Who organises a street party under these circumstances?
I was watching Sky news this morning and there were about a dozen doing exercises in the park behind the reporter.
I saw one of them throw down a blanket and lie on it.
It's just shown police moving her on.
She must have just wanted to get on telly. Crazy
