The Spectator reports that 42% of NHS beds lie empty and 2/3rds of mechanical ventilation units are unused.

I find this extraordinary given the other comments flying around. Still, it looks as if we are, indeed, protecting the NHS. Maybe the Dutch effect reported by MA of a significant drop in people reporting other issues is in play here.
