No pictures of DKE signs. But he has signed for another year
Popular full-back Dion Kelly-Evans has committed his future to the club by signing a new one-year deal.
The 24-year-old completes a full set of players to have accepted our offer of a new contract after Jim O’Brien, Sam Slocombe, Adam Chicksen, Connell Rawlinson, Tiernan Brooks and Tyreace Palmer also put pen to paper.
And Ian Burchnall is very pleased to further strengthen his back line with Kelly-Evans’ signature.
“Everyone knows what Dion’s about,” said the head coach. “He has no off switch – be it in training or in games, he brings the same level of intensity.
“Not only that but he’s a great lad who is keen to better himself and, with there being so much more time on the training ground this season, I’m sure we can continue to bring him on leaps and bounds.
“For Dion and all the other boys to have accepted our offers speaks volumes about the positive environment we’re building here and it gives us a really strong base heading into pre-season.
“Of course, we’re still working hard to bring new signings to the club. We’re being ambitious with our targets, which means a little extra patience is required, but we’re pleased with the progress we’re making.”

The one-year deal perhaps suggests why it’s taken a while to get over the line. DKE would have been hoping for more job security, you assume. Let’s see if IB can improve him as an attacking threat; he did have a bad habit under NA of playing it safe instead of trying to get to the byline.
Yeah I couldn't help noticing that, far braver without the ball in his own half than with it in the oppositions.
Very happy with a 1 season extension.
This is very good news. He’s a good player who always gives 100%.
It means that except for Reeves, Miller, Enzio and Ellis, we’ve kept together the squad which nearly won promotion last season (and 2 of those 4 were leaving in any case). The turnover of playing staff will not be as great as it has been in several recent summers and we will start preparing for next season with a core of players who already know each other’s game.
Providing the new signings are slightly better than the four who have left, we’ll be in with a chance.
This is good news as once again we have a player in DKE who gives his all for the cause and is a warrior signed up for next season. Also the fact that along with all the other players who have resigned it maintains a level of consistency and stability within the squad that we have not seen at the club for a number of years in that there is a number of players who are now going to be starting their 3rd season at the club.
This is a positive in my opinion because in Slocombe, Rawlinson, DKE, JOB, Chicksen and Brooks they all know each other and have played together for many games. So we have a core of players who will not need the time to gel that so many squads have needed in the past. Likewise with Doyle becoming assistant head coach this continues the stability.
The squad should be an evolution not a revolution if we are to be successful.
That's the foundations now of next seasons squad laid with these six players re-signing. The next stage is now the crucial stage in how successful we will be next season bringing in the replacements for Doyle as a player, Reeves, Enzio, Thomas and Sloth from last seasons squad obviously discounting key loan players such as Miller and Ellis.
If we are to get out of this league, then we need players like DKE who gives 100% every game...
I would suggest he has a one year deal because he isn't good enough for league Two. Would have preferred us to sign a new right wing back.
