Given the acquisitions of CBT, Adams and Gayle in the ‘extended’ window I have no doubts about Clowes’ willingness to ‘back the club’.
It would seem pointless to make such an outlay to try and achieve promotion if he’s then not going to ‘back’ our ability to stay up should we get there.
Having said that…I’d guess we’ll need at least half a dozen signings, all an improvement on the majority of last summer’s signings, if we’re to compete realistically. Won’t be easy but I guess we can only cross that bridge if and when we get there. We’ll see.
Either that or bring Rosenior back and all will be well
DC has said all along that the club will be run in a sustainable, self sufficient manner. I believe him. He's not going to pour millions in. I think he will allow spending up to the level of income at the most. Don't forget, DCFC owes him £36M or thereabouts. He will want that paying back, sooner or later.
He is said to be worth around £250M. People need to remember that much of that is tied up in land, buildings, plant and machinery and NOT liquid assets.
Good and fair point, MA.
Personally I do ‘remember that…’ I’m just trying to pick the bones out of Stephen Pearce’s recent statement in comparison with the suggestions of the more financially astute on here and work out what the near future might hold.
How? He lent DCFC or whatever company name, £36M on an interest free deal. Cheap? He paid roughly what the ground is worth, didn't he? We all know the £80M MM paid was proper Jackanory stuff. If the ground had cost more he would have lent DCFC more. I don't see how there is any offsetting to be had...
