Apoplexy originally a stroke - so I hope not!

Dont think it was a foul to start with.
But I am happy for quick free kicks without waiting for the whistle. Otherwise you penalize the attacking play which is ridiculous.
But there needs consistency.
If a ref asks at every free kick whether the team taking the free wants a quick one then fine.
It shouldn't be about whether the free kick is "near the penalty area" at all. It's should be at any time in the field of play.
Yes but it’s how quick is quick.
The rules suggest it means immediately not seconds later when the ref has arrived to allo for the wall to form.
The rules also mention opposing players not being within 10 years for a free kick not taken immediately.
A bit old but relevant,

Ref explained: "The initiative must always be with the attacking side, the team that have been offended against.
"They are perfectly entitled to take a quick free-kick and the referees are actively encouraged to keep the game moving in that respect.
"However, if the player taking the free-kick, or indeed one of his team-mates, asks the referee to move the wall or any defender back, they must then wait for the official to give the instruction as to when to take the free-kick.
"That would then give the defending team the time to prepare their wall."
I thought it was mandatory for the referee to get his squirty thing out, mark the spot and make sure the opposition are ten yards away?
It's the inconsistency of referees and their own personal "interpretations" that are ruining our season.
