They tell everyone the feel off, it’s in their blood
Just about every great person is loathed and lauded for one reason (apply plural) or another. His contribution to the City of Dundee as well as Scotland in general with regards to football is widely recognised and bearing in mind that when John Prentice went off to Canada to sell kilts, Wee Jim was expected to take the Dees gig, but refused to work with the then questionable board and instead was snapped up soon afterwards by the Shed Board when Jerry Kerr retired. Wee Jim's abilities were well recognised during his 18 months or so coaching at Dens, so much so that some of the more experienced players at Dens said 'watch United take off' when he was given the Shed gig. His Story became our history. It could have been your story, very easily, but for a crappy boardroom. Wee Jim's 'Dens' contributions as player and coach should not be forgotten. I can understand Sheds conveniently overlooking it, but it is shameful for Dees to do likewise. But for your Board at the time, the subsequent Shed successes would have been yours. Don't castigate Wee Jim. Berate your Board members at that time.
Wee jums time was a bit before me...just ..but going by my old mans take on it probably wouldn't have happened as the Dee board would have made a howling chunt of it probably,I think he was the right manager at the right time for you guys.
He would not have been afforded the time he got at Utd.
Boardroom issues have held back DFC for a generation and more ,hopefully calmer waters ahead....
