re: west ham (home)predictions
Well, Robin, you could tell from the look on Taylor's face that he DID understand what he'd done. He can never reproach himself for lack of effort, though.
I still think sticking Henley in at left-back was crass. You drop him for several weeks in favour of a non-specialist, and then ask him to play out of position against PL opponents, with a non-tackling wide midfielder in front of him.
Very sympathetic handling. Must have done wonders for his confidence.
re: west ham (home)predictions
He did understand your right
I don't believe he would of featured against derby so no massive harm done that said would of liked to have him instead of Conway in terms of changing things if it's not working
as for Henley it's obvious Lambert really dosnt rate him but of course he could of been testing the water to see if we need another left back
I think Lambert got his question answered.
re: west ham (home)predictions
And that is the process for learning just what he has at his disposal as it stands. Exactly what I would be doing in his shoes.
I have no idea what 'budget' he is looking to get from the owners come June but I seriously doubt it is anywhere near the amount many are aspiring to see splashed.
re: west ham (home)predictions
Taylor was about to burst in to tears when he walked past us. He was beyond gutted. The ref was harsher on our players than West Ham's. The red to West Ham I think was a result of the ref realising how harsh he'd been on Taylor.
I think Hanley was being 'protected.' I'm sure he will figure in Lambert's plans. But you're right RR about the money needed. It is a bloody fourtune to build back to anywhere near what's needed on current showings.
re: west ham (home)predictions
While I was out on my round today I had a little think of what sort of finacial backing would we need to turn us from rank average to promotion hopefuls
I got to just under 19 million
spend Rhodes fee and we still need another 10 million
there is no way venkys will even contemplate spending anywhere near that
possibly with a zero off of that total now of course that figure is just a rough total but if you look at what we need it soon mounts up
decent right back:£2.5 million
decent left back:£2.5 million
good pacey left winger:anything up to 5
A couple of creative central midfielders 5-6 million
Watt?I believe a deal is in place at the end of the season around 1.5 million
and maybe a couple more forwards
before you know it we are up to 20 million and above
now that is not saying we can't pick up talent for cheaper but I wouldn't mind betting it won't be too far away from that top figure
without pissing on people's chips I can't see us having a team anywhere near good
