Mmm .. I'm unsure if our new soopa-doopa marketing dept have perhaps spun this change!? Did Carl really step down, or, was it a decision made by the Gaffer? And, as a compromise Carl, Robbo and new skipper Hartley all come out looking good? Anyhow, for me, up until PH fell foul to that foot injury he was the actual Captain on the pitch. An organiser, battler, leader and much more - I'm hoping this is a major win-win, and Carl reconnects with the form he showed pre that awful head injury.
Dunno...everyone said McHugh wasn't performing to his best so I don't know why we'd expect he wouldn't realise that as well. And he'd not be the first not to love the notion of being captan - weren't Craigan and one of Hammell/Lasley (I forget which) famously reluctant to take the armband? So I don't think him volunteering it is that hard to imagine...particularly if he read the tea leaves and decided Hartley was going to get it anyway so why not make himself look good?
Awe c’mon that head injury was TWO years ago and season opener at Killie (?) .. was this not his SPL debut (?)
He’s been okay (more often phish) and posted, we have better on bench. Correctly remembered his memorial goal against Hearts. Hartley arrival showed immediately his leadership quality and often heard pushing team where I sit PoD. TBH McHugh presence will not be missed as WE have better players on bench. This was inevitable.
