Very worrying result with the far right winning seats in parliament for the first time in 60 years.
Not surprising though after what happened in France and Merkel's open door policy.

Have to admit after living in Frankfurt for 4 years until very recently it doesn't surprise me and tbh I thought the AfD would get a bigger percentage. I think I've said it before I worked in a company with a lot of Germans, French, Italians, Portuguese, Spanish etc and the feeling towards Europe and its issues wasn't good. I think it's another nail in the coffin of the EU.
Similar surge in power that saw UKIP's rise in popularity.....though 13% of the vote gives them a huge say in the running of the government due to their PR-style of Democracy where gaining 5%+ guarantees seats ......"AfD will become the third largest party and is on course to occupy 88 seats in the Bundestag, compared with 217 for the CDU/CSU and 137 for the the SPD."
I note the AfD's interesting language in today's press bulletin - they say they are going to 'hunt down Merkel'. Just as Germany, after the war, were no longer allowed control of their own armed forces, one wonders whether they should be allowed far right political parties, but hey it's a democracy, each to his own.
Merkel is a gutsy woman and is determined to rid her homeland of the minority-crushing image it accrued in the war. The infiltration of refugees by ISIS outliers makes her task almost impossible.
Prejudice against immigrant Turks has been there for some years, probably on a par with the UK's attitude to Poles.
and us here, the Turks have failed to integrate successfully.
Culture has its problems, either you are willing to bend, or you are not. If you are the visitor, then it is your job to adapt. The left/libs seem to believe it is the other way around.
As for Germany, I am not surprised. I have said many times, when I fly to Nurenburg, the mood is getting uglier. Merkel has caused this. But the EU is run by socialists. Merkel was a former East German and has worn the uniform. Considering CorbYn, loved the former EGR, I shouldn't be surprised
But the EU is not run by socialist.. it's mainly run by Conservatives. This is why socialist like Tiny Benn and Dennis Skinner were anti EU... and why I am.

Don't judge everybody by your own standards. My post was hardly a rant, merely an observation.
Furthermore, I don't operate on a tit for tat basis. The Magyars and Polish governments have a lot to learn on tolerance and understanding.
So if you were one of those posters who had a foul-mouthed rant at me on here, Tricky, you wouldn't get the same back.
