Closed Door
I've never understood why they announce closed door games as they're basically just training sessions.
Here's my take on pre season friendlies. Ok, it's accepted that basically they are there as training seasons admittedly. Getting players "up to speed" again after a few weeks break. Also an opportunity for a manager to have a look at possible new signings with a handful of "trialists" usually involved. This is where I see that these games should be against "competetive" opposition. A "triallist" may well be signed on the basis that he had a decent game against the likes of Workington, Queens Park, East Fife and the likes, teams that are usually the kind of pre season guff that Queens usually choose.Queens will learn little from a bounce game against Airdrie. Surely if a player does well in a pre season game against superior opposition that would be a better prospect. Games against the likes of Carlisle, Morecambe, Barrow etc. Would provide better opposition for Queens, then we could really have an idea as to whether any potential signings can "cut the mustard"
Then in that case Airdrieonians obviously see Queens as a big team 😝
