COVID-19 - Do you know anyone diagnosed with it?

I thought this might be a useful thread to keep a record of how it’s spreading in our owns families and geographical areas.

I was told this evening that sadly the husband of my old playschool organiser has passed away from it, they were residents of Wollaston, Stourbridge.

Hi, My Brother in Laws friend has died from this virus, think he was 61 he did have health problems. I sure he lived in Wednesbury.

I know somebody really well in ICU who is critical - 55 and no underlying health issues!

I still don’t personally know anyone who has it and nobody I know knows anyone who has it within my circle of friends ( not counting you lot )

Any news from anyone else out there?

Govt about to introduce testing for frontline workers - finally, this virus is so rampant that it's my opinion we've all been exposed to it and the viral load in most cases determines whether or not you get symptoms. So - if you know any frontline workers then you'll soon know someone who has tested positive and has developed immunity.

Don't know anyone with it yet due to this lack of testing.

I’ve got a mate who’s wife is a nurse.

He just won’t have it about Covid and reckons it’s ridiculously hyped and keeps posting on FB that stacks more die every year from flu in all countries.

I’m arguing the case but what would you say to him WCV?

Just had a call from a mate whose 89 yo mother has been diagnosed with coronavirus. She is in a Teeside nursing home and as a child suffered from TB so is on the vulnerable list for all sorts of reasons. Last the family have heard she appears to be getting better. Don't know the lady but go girl. Quote "Staff at the home doing a wonderful job"

Maybe its different for me because I live in London, but I probably know about 10 people who have had symptoms. And only one who has been confirmed.

All of them are are in their 30's and all have or are expected to recover.

The only who has been confirmed is a pregnant woman in the same office as my wife. In fact about 6/7 of those with the symptoms that we know of all work in the same office, so it must be very contagious. You can imagine a rush hour tube, if just one person has it on there.

The only people who get tested are in hospital. There must be a lot of people out there self-isolating who haven't got it - or even who have already had it and didn't realise. I read somewhere that 20% of our nurses have self isolated at some point, this is valuable time spent at home rather than in hospital. Its not their fault either. More testing is required urgently.
