And why would he resign? Johnson has showed more bottle than any PM since Thatcher. Makes me sick that Major is getting involved who must rank as the most spineless PM on record. Corbyn is a complete joke and Swinson is like a girl just out of sixth form clearly out of her depth. Talking about Dublin - the slimy Leo can't go anywhere without his chum Macron as he's so weak!
Go on Johnson defy this stupid new law and pull us out of the EU and perhaps before that make a pact with the Brexit party - then there will be then anarchy and the real voice of the people will be heard on mass!
As someone who voted to leave, and is old enough enough and cynical enough to know that that could always be without a deal, I still can’t agree with the sentiment of the last paragraph.
In my opinion we should get out of the EU but anarchy and the power of social media over the rule of law for me is not the way to go. I still believe that if BJ is serious about wanting to leave with a deal then he should get the best deal that he can and then put it to Parliament.
If that isn’t acceptable then as long as it is after 31st October I really cannot see how the opposition parties can refuse an election and then let’s see what happens. My concern, even more than no deal, is that any election doesn’t resolve the problem and we end up back where we are now in a stalemate.
BJ’s bully tactics would work if he had a majority but realistically he hasn’t so needs to get on another tact and deliver Brexit, with or without a deal. However, not just a no deal which he looks like he is trying to deliver to me. If it takes a few weeks/months after the end of October so be it. We’ve waited for three years already so what’s a bit longer?
The problem is Yarm, that every influential institution is of the Remain persuasion and therefore the odds are stacked against Brexit. What Boris needs to do, and I don't have a clue what, is to find some legal loophole to use against them. Basically we have the situation of the People against Parliament and you know very well who usually wins that!
Whilst I don’t disagree with most of your post Yarm many would say the rule of law already has been abused starting from the speaker being blatantly biased towards remain. Would we be happy if this coming Saturday the referee was a Fulham supporter! What’s the difference.
As a purchasing professional myself CIPS - no deal is better than any deal so if if a sensible deal can’t be negotiated then you walk away.
Remoaners have done everything to wreck democracy and the majority vote. Soon people will rise up and really stamp their feet for the contempt and betrayal. Could you blame them?
Johnson needs to play dirty now and any sensible pact with Farage could be the way forward. Farage can’t stand against Johnson and he won’t.
We are not a million miles away in our thinking. I too have always been prepared to walk away with a no deal rather than agree to a bad deal. The only difference I see between BJ’s approach is that I would always look for a win/win situation even in a no deal situation.
Anyone can walk away, that is easy. Doing it with manners, respect and in the right way means that there is always a chance of doing business again at a later date. I know many ex-colleagues who once they walked away were never given the opportunity of a deal again because of the way they did it.
In this situation if we have a no deal, we don’t really because we have to deal with the EU in so many ways both in and out, immediately after the no deal! If we ‘crap on them’ when walking away then just expect the same back very soon.
This for me is why the EU leaders and Government leaders were so respectful when BJ was first appointed PM. They know, potentially, they will have to make deals with him after Brexit so they need to be able to find ways of making that work, not just shutting the door in his face.
Come on BJ get some sort of deal agreed quickly and then approach Parliament with it, putting the pressure back on the opposition to agree a way forward. Let’s be honest Corbyn wants out just as much as BJ does, he is just deluded that he could win an election!!
yarm, they are calling Boris Johnson a bully boy,to me the EU.are bigger much bigger bully boys.there not going to give us a good deal they can’t if we get a good deal all hell will let loose with the 27 nations.the EU will crumble soon ,aleady rumours of unrest.the eastern bloc know now the EU is not the land of milk and honey.whatever deal the UK put forward will be knocked back.they look at the UK and all the remainers and SNP and are rubbing there hands .
Totally agree 68! Yarm - as a professionally qualified buyer, I will always strive to achieve a win win but sadly, on many occasions, this is not possible. There are many top brands where they are of the view, the other side should work with them for the prestige - sadly prestige of a brand does not pay overheads or wages!!
No deal is better than any deal. From a purchasing perspective, to even say we want a deal puts you on the wrong footing, as this is a sign of weakness. I do agree, though with any no deal, you should shake hands and be professional, as you never know when business will come around again.
I used to contract hotel beds all around the world and also negotiate group contracts. In terms of buying now, do lots of negotiation for our own company which ships goods all around the world both import and export and is quite unique in what we do and how we do it. When I meet up with you which will hopefully be soon, will let you know the ins and outs but not on here.
Seem to have quite a bit in common with you Mick.
