Theoretically still favourites for the play-offs despite yesterday's poor performance against out-of-form opponents. Can somebody find Marquis' scoring boots and return them to him as soon as possible ? :) It's been a good season overall, exceeding expectations, but I don't feel this team is ready for promotion just yet...

Hear hear, Scarjo. I agree. At the start of the season I did not believe that McCann would get this squad anywhere near the playoffs, so in that sense it has been a successful year. But we usually finish every season throwing away whatever we could have achieved whether it is champions or promotion. We should have easily hung onto a playoff spot but now we can see it slipping away. Not that we could beat any combination in the playoffs as the top 5 are too strong for us. We also usually show ourselves up when televised.

Going back to last summer's argument, if GM had spent more money on a slightly stronger side we might have found it easier at this point. Regrettably, the budget nearly always does relate to success but the board don't want to pump in for a top budget. As you say, this team is not ready for the Championship.
