GN sounded really frustrated the morning on the radio saying that he couldn't work any harder but is struggling to attract a centre half and will resort to playing others out of position to fill the slot if that remains the case in the short term. Not good news.
Mr Naysmith in today's D and G Standard said they had enquired about Gary McKenzie but it won't be happening however they hope to have a young centre - half coming up from England who has been recommended. Tonight's game clashes with Brazil v Belgium at the World Cup so will probably be a very low turnout unfortunately.
PS - I see Jim Atkinson was in goals for Gretna v Annan
Yes it is a real concern. The signings of Harkins and Todd were real positives but the squad is threadbare. A commanding centre half is as GN clearly feels an absolute priority. We have some real talent in the squad but it looks very like being a long hard season as things stand. Pity. Still time to get players in though. Maybe the loan market will provide opportunity. Worrying times though.
people keep saying it because players from other teams hate it ,nearly every team that comes down to palmy moan about the surface ,so the rep that is sending out amongst the potential players who hate coming down to play on it goes without saying ,if the players dont like it thay wont want to come to queens .
The reason people keep saying it is twofold. They can see how it plays with their own eyes but tellingly it was rated the worst pitch in the Championship by the players in that league last season. The pitch is not good or at least it certainly wasn`t last season.

At the meet the management event both Naysmith and Anderson were no overly complimentary with respect to the pitch saying that it takes players longer to recover when compared with grass. Not sure those were wise remarks from the duo but probably simply honest.
