The manager picks the team, sets the tactics & motivates the players. No way does McInnes get excused from those Motherwell games, just because of some individual howlers.
So for the LC quarter final, are you blaming McInnes for picking Joe, who up until that point was having a good season, and after that game had a good season, but unfortunately chose that game to have an absolute howler?
And for the SC semi final, are you blaming McInnes for playing Arnason at centre half (I can't think of a better option, given the choices available) and Ball at right back, again given the choices available.
If you were the manager who would you have picked?
Maybe so, but not easy considering the resources that we have to have options available in all areas and to account for every circumstance. McInnes surely isn't the first manager to be forced to play someone not in their preferred, natural position. Having said that Ball was honking at right back.
