"Do the big clubs care? No. They increasingly have academies and the scouting networks to find and nurture the best talent from all over the world. If the biggest clubs in the Premier League had their way they'd be playing in a European league, which is where the really big money is and why coming fourth now matters more than winning the Cup to them. "

Incidentally, it's not a "trickle-down economy", it's a fixed market. The fees don't reflect the fees which would be paid in a more efficient market and don't take account of the costs of production. "Surprisingly enough this is why the likes of SUFC will struggle because we simply don't have the critical-mass in terms of fanbase nor the glamour to attract much interest beyond the hard-core of supporters."

That is about supporters, lack of, not of millions of Sky pounds being distributed to village grass roots teams whether the village is near Manchester or here. It is akin to a trickle down economy. If there are little starlets out there then small clubs can have money to find them, develop them and what is more they are domestic.

That can then allow our clubs to have good players and that does trickle up to the bigger clubs after the smaller clubs can make money selling them.

We then get a decent National team, a level that has suffered because of Sky.

It has naff all to do with what Bucks has to have a dig at. Even he naffed off down south in lieu of employing people up here in his home town.
