That is f@cking bonkers.
Allowing downloads in was ridiculous enough
Long gone are the days that songs such as "Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter" could go number one
I think most of us will agree that music has been on its @rse for some time now but I think todays announcement for the future of "chart music" is the final nail in its coffin.
Music Video views will now count towards the charts.

I havent followed chart music myself for a very very long time, maybe even since the 90's, but surely to f*ck its dead on it @rse and has zero merit for counting towards actual music. This move just seems desperate, although its being described as a move towards the "future".
I had the displeasure of hearing some so called chart music a week or so ago and i honestly thought somebody was having a joke. It may sound like an auld manny speaking about 'youngster music these days', but its ****ing awful. Without even discussing the terrible lyrical content, the background music and melodies alone are uttery tragic. Now music videos are going count towards whether they are popular or not... cue ebony chicks in floss thongs, grinding to some awful rap sh!t just to get views.

The trouble is that there is either no Maiden’s or Priest’s coming through the ranks these days, or they are prevented from doing so because they aren’t ‘popular’. Melodic rock for example was full of bands who sounded great, but never got the chance to make it. Some of the utter trash that is in the charts is mind boggling and yet they somehow they make it there.
If you want to hear one of the worst songs ever sung or written, then have a sneaky peak at “I like it “ by Cardi B.
Genius lyrics such as :
Diamond district in the Jag' (I said I like it like that)
Bad Bunny, baby, be, be, be, be
Certified, you know I'm gang, gang, gang, gang (I said I like it like–)
Drop the top and blow the brains (I said I like it like that)
Oh he's so handsome, what's his name? (I said I like it)
Oh I need the dollars (I said I like it like that)
Beat it up like piñatas (I said I like it like)
Tell the driver, close the curtains (I said I like it like that)
Bad bitch make him nervous (I said I like it)
Number 9 in the chart.
I agree, adding downloads was bad enough. Long gone are the days of wondering down to a music store and queuing for the release of a vinyl, tape or CD. Sad times.

Charts should still be compiled according to sheet music sales imo.
The big problem with music is that all the good songs have been written. It's just not possible to write any more.
The death of music was the end of D I S C O .
Surely the 60s n 70s was the height of music .
Maybe the chart is dead but music as a whole certainly isn’t. There is plenty good new music out there if you dig a little deeper.
And there are people who still buy the physical format. There are at least 3 indie record shops in Aberdeen plus HMV.

I’m sure if I looked I could find some bad Iron Maiden lyrics too
