    Liam Lindsay says

Liam Lindsay has reacted strongly following the draw with Bolton Wanderers at the weekend. The ever-present central defender has spoken of the need to ‘just win’, no matter what problems his side may face in the coming weeks.

Following Oli McBurnie’s stoppage time equaliser, the Reds find themselves two points behind Saturday's opponents, as well as fellow survival hopefuls Birmingham City. A trip to Leeds United in the Yorkshire derby is next, before José Morais’ side will look to take advantage of their game in hand on the teams around them by facing Nottingham Forest on the Tuesday evening after.

“There are positives to take, but negatives as well. It’s a massive, massive goal at the end so we just need to focus on that, we got the point and it’s still in our hands. We get to go again.” Lindsay stated.

“In the first half I felt they didn’t really threaten, it was just the ball in behind but we dealt with it fine. In the second half we felt comfortable again but obviously then the penalty decision went against us and they got momentum from that and scored two, that can’t happen but it did.”

It’s three away matches out of the last four games for the Reds, with trips to Leeds and Nottingham Forest before the penultimate home clash with Brentford, which is followed by a final-day visit to Derby County. Mathematically, the points are available for the Club to control its own destiny and Liam Lindsay knows just that.

“It’s in our hands, we’ve got the game in hand so we just need to win every game and that’s what we’re focusing on and we all believe we can do it, the points are there for us to get. The Championship is a massive league with good players, we all want to keep playing in it and progressing, getting confidence and playing to try and keep moving on up the league.”

Having been at the heart of the defence for most of the season, Liam has seen the central defender on his right change a few times. He feels the competition is good and after Adam Jackson came off injured against Bolton during the draw on Saturday, Ethan Pinnock slotted straight in to replace him.

“The standard at centre half is good, we’ve got Matt Mills as well as Ethan so anybody could play and come into the side. It’s good competition and if something does happen like it did to Jacko [Adam Jackson] then anyone can come in as a straight swap.”

The challenge on Saturday is to go to Leeds and take points away from Elland Road, with former Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom at the helm of our opponents. Liam doesn’t want that to be the focus of the game, he just wants to win and had some words on his new Head Coach as well.

“We just need to win, it doesn’t matter who we’re playing against or who is the manager. I’m grateful he brought me to the Club but that’s it now and we just need to go there and get the points for us. It’s a big game.

“José has been fine with us all since he’s come in, everyone has respect for him as he’s a great guy and we’ve done decent enough under him. It’s hard for him to come in the way we find ourselves in but everyone is completely behind him and we need to keep going.

“It’s a big derby isn’t it, but it doesn’t really matter who we play now, we just need to win and that’s our focus.”
