Nobody can ever take that away.

The job of the current club custodian is to ensure it continues to be the proud history of an existing club, not a former club. Whatever you think about Alan Hardy, if he can move the club on to owners who care for it and will run it good intentions, then he will have fulfilled his most fundamental responsibility. The next most important responsibility is to try and ensure we're still a football league club.

I know other clubs take the piss when fans live on past glories - hell we constantly dig Forest fans about doing just that - but these things actually matter. The league table or the division you play in can feel all important at the time, but ultimately clubs have good spells and bad spells - relegation often follows promotion, and vice versa. But a club's heritage never changes.

Wherever we end up, we'll always have our history and our identity. We'll always be founding members of the football league. We'll always be FA Cup winners. We'll always be the club that Juventus invited to open their new stadium. COYP.
