FA Youth Cup Final last night

Those of you who are interested in football at all levels, like me, will know that the game was won by Aston Villa who beat trophyless Liverpool 2-1. As far as I know only 1 player had played for the first team ,and he was in PL action for Villa a few weeks ago.One thing did interest me was that a comment by the commentator at the end mentioned that” Villa had recruited well from home AND abroad to achieve this merited success. Should we as a club also be doing the same ? As everyone knows, not too many youngsters actually make the leap from Youth level ,to actually become a first team player. It’s a bit of a grey area , why so many talented players fall by the wayside for various reasons. Remember when the Clarets scouting system was bringing talented ****agers to Turf Moor, the team of the 70’s etc. We all know the story behind that. What have we got to do to resurrect those golden days, when many youngsters walked through the front door at Turf Moor ? We don’t want to spend any money, so should this be a priority in future. If it means recruiting from abroad, let’s start doing it.

Just a rider to the above is the fact that Kaine Kesler: Lamare Bogarde: Arjan Raikhy: Ben Chrisene and Louie Barry all started for Villa in the FA Cup against Liverpool this season when Villa had the Covid crisis. They lost the game 1-4 with Barry scoring the Villa goal.
In addition Sil Swinkels: Brad Young and Hayden Lindley all came on as subs in that same game.
Carney Chukwuemeka made his debut for Villa against Spurs one week ago.

All those named were in the Villa starting 11 last night.

Thanks for updating me. It seems Villa must be doing something right-maybe years of hard work behind the scenes. Will be interested to see how many ,of both last nights finalists ,become regulars in their respective first team squads in the next few years.Or failing that, having to move on to find regular first team football elsewhere.

Can you imagine Mike Rigg even being arsed to write down the name of Carney Chukwuemeka on his trial sheet?

We are owned by Americans.Football (Soccer) is not their National game but there is a big population over there and there are a lot who do play the game. One or two decent Americans have come good over here.Don't the new owners have any contacts,I can never remember having an American on our books.
