    More in Mail

"It can also be disclosed that third parties have been approached and asked to find potential buyers for a club that came close to liquidation only two years ago.

A figure of around £15m has been quoted, according to those with knowledge of the situation, which is understood to be close to five times what the current owners paid to bring Wigan out of administration in 2021."

They probably fit into the Bolton & Derby (oopps them again !) criteria of unlimited chances rather than the Bury and Macclesfield "off you go" bracket

Wigan gave manager Leam Richardson a new 3 year contract this week, after his
name was mentioned as a possible replacement for the managers job at West Brom,
so Wigan tied him down to the club.

I’m not sure if this consortium has actually bought players. They did sign a lot of players as free agents but although the signings came with the normal agents fees all other expenditures have been on wages.

I’ll put money on it that they have new American owners by January.
