Thread: A perspective from a Southerner

    A perspective from a Southerner

Yes it is related to the football team.

Was talking to a mate, Watford fan, this morning. He saw the match , I didn't.

I told him that I was unhappy with the management situation.

My mate lived in Rotherham for 6 years, around 2005.

He said "Rotherham folk are unambitious and prone to accept second best. It's the way you a been brought up. Anyone who is ambitious from school age upwards is given a hard time. That is why the talented ones have to leave. That is why your supporters always put up with mediocrity"

Okay I paraphrased it a bit but that was the more or less what he said.

He did add that we were by far the poorest team he has seen in a long while. He said, and this a direct quote " not one member of the team or staff believed they could win last night"

    Does he have a point?

Incredible how your southern mate phrased the critisicm in exactly the same way you would.

Are you sure you didnt make this up?

I think the friend is fantasy, made up while you were walking along Wellgate.

How is the new building coming along on the old Kirkby site?

Surprising thing is you have a mate.

    Blood brothers by any chance.

I thought this was a board that championed diversity?

Anyway, the exact nature of the relationship is irrelevant.

    Back on topic,

    Are Rotherham folk unambitious?

No Rotherham folk are not unambitious, some are more ambitious than others.

I’m not I expect them to go and try to win every game
If you don’t have a winning attitude then what’s point ?
