    Record Run?

Is this the Lichties' best run of results ever? Or perhaps our best start to a season?

I've been supporting the Club for 50 years, plus, and can't recall a better run. Can someone quote the statistics, please?

In my 30 year association have never seen anything quite like it. Long may it continue..

    re: Record Run?

Have you seen the comparisons over the first quarter of the season (ie 9 games) on these pages, published a fortnight ago
    - it shows we're doing far better SO FAR (fingers crossed, inshallah etc) than in any of our promotion campaigns in recent times

And since the 18 years before that we spent languishing in the lowest tier (ie 1980-1998), it's better than anything for the past 40 years

Don't have the form sequences but here's our record for the two promotion seasons going further back 50 years. We finished up in the runners-up slot in the old Division 2 and so gained promotion.

    1971-72

    Played 36 Won 22 Drawn 8 Lost 6 GF 71 GA 41 Points 52 (UNDER CURRENT RULES POINTS = 74)

    1967-68

    Played 36 Won 24 Drawn 5 Lost 7 GF 87 GA 34 Points 53 (UNDER CURRENT RULES POINTS = 77)

Thanks for the info. I have very happy memories of the 67/68 campaign. Of the 87 goals, 65 were scored by the "terrible twins", Jimmy Jack and Dennis Bruce. There's a target for McManus and Murray!

    re: Record Run?

Back in the season 1982-83 we went on a 20 game unbeaten run, if I remember correctly, Clyde won the league and Alloa pipped us for 2nd place...

    re: Record Run?

According to website fitbastats.com which looks excellent our records are

Unbeaten run from start of season in league games only - 9 in 1989/90 (finished 12th of 14 in old Div 2) - 7 in 1965/66 when we lost only 1 in the first 16 league games (finished 6th of 19 in old old Div 2). (Current season was no defeats in first 4 and 1 defeat in first 10...so far)

    Our best run of wins - 9 in the promotion year 1967/68 (all league games) - 8 including cup games in 1958/59 (also promoted) - 7 in 1934/35 (promoted), 1971/72 (promoted), 1981/82 (3rd of 14 Div 2) & 1994/95 (7th of 10 Div 3). (Currently on 5 wins in a row)

    League Games without defeat - 15 in 1952/53 (7th of 16 in Div 2) & 2000/01 (promoted) (Currently on 5)

    Games without defeat - 13 in 1952/53 & 2006/07 (2nd lost in play off) (currently on 8)

Other good runs we have had are in 1934/35 we won 13 out of 14 games. In 2006/07 we won 9 out of 10. (currently on 7 out of 8).

In 1997/98 we lost only 1 of our last 13 league games gaini
