    Pierce Bird out on loan

Defender Pierce Bird has completed a loan move to Vanarama National League North side Boston United.

He’ll be with the Lincolnshire outfit for the remainder of 2019 and is available for their Emirates FA Cup second-round clash at Rochdale next weekend.

The 20-year-old centre back will also be able to represent Boston in the Buildbase FA Trophy as part of the agreement.

Bird has made five appearances for us so far this season and will be hoping for regular first-team football during his spell with the Pilgrims.

A real shame he wasn't given more of a chance here but it is obvious there is something in him that Ardley and Cox are not quite sure about hence the recent signing of Alex Lacey. Boston will be a good move for him assuming he will get the playing time he really needs, good luck to the lad.

Ardley has his favourites which is blindingly obvious. Who next, Osbourne ? Well, we have signed a 31yr old player on loan from Ebbsfleet, who by the way couldn't get into there side.

... Der ham ... you're quite a bore with your anti Ardley stance; but that may be more to do with lack of understanding on your part.
If you had bothered to attend the recent evening at ML, NA explained in depth why certain players are not selected due to shortcomings in attitude, skill or appreciation of their required role.
He also, when questioned, explained the issues of whether or not to send one or more of our attacking players forward when we are defending corners. His argument was convincing; and he picks the team!
Doubt you will change your attitude, but please make an effort to balance your views ...

In reference to players not getting a game he said that the players he is picking are better and are doing more in matches. I beg to differ. Shields is not better than Osbourne. I'd much rather play one of our own than a loan signing from Ebsfleet.

Both Bird and Ozzy have done really well when chosen and can both feel very unfortunate. Tootle was once player of the year and one of the most sought after fullbacks in league 2. And who knows what Crawford can do because Ardley has totally frozen him out. Quite bizarrely due to the form of Rose and Doyle recently.

Ardley may be able to spot a good player, but once on the pitch he hasn't a clue..

You know better? You know more about football, scouting, picking teams, team tactics than Neil Ardley?

You act like you know better than almost every manager, based on what hindsight and not being paid to manage a football team? Gotcha.

No issue with Bird getting minutes elsewhere, has he shown enough to warrant a regular starting XI place?

I'd guess most of us would know more about managing Notts than Neil Ardley!

I don't get the fuss with Bird at all, he's not come through our ranks so there shouldn't be that kind of affinity towards him and he looked half decent but fairly clumsy when compared to the sea of utter sh*te we had in the team that relegated us last season. Ben Turner looks like the best central defender we've had in years and the partnership he's had with Rawlinson is the best we've had in years so it's not like he should be in the team ahead of either of them.
