    England v San Marino

This should have been like England playing Colne Dynamos but it never is, we always under achieve. Other teams quite cheerfully score 6 to 9 against SM but we always overplay it and struggle to get to 5. Pope had nothing to do, we had 31 attempts but the finishing was abysmal, powder poof shots and lame headers. Let's hope he plays a stronger team against Albania.

At least it's another cap for the Pope with a clean sheet.

The under 21's didn't do too well against the Swiss, McNeil being substituted after about 70 mins, though he wasn't the first.

Hungry England says "Southgate" - did they worlk up an appetite - Kriti ?....but , yeah, it just going through the motions, a done deal, dull training session...Doesn't sound like S.M parrked the bus though, they at least tried to play ball ?...and then there's the commentators, sounding off like we've scored against the Netherlands in a world cup final....it not for me....even with the sound down. Pope must've been bored to tears...oh well, at least he had a few days away, if he's lucky, he might even get to go to Albania, on an aeroplane !

If I couldn’t have scored against a bunch of Italian waiters, there is something drastically wrong. 5 goals against the worst international team in the world is not good at all. Admittedly the goalie had a blinder, but 10 goals were there for the taking. Don’t think the England coach learnt anything tonight. I could have played just as well as any of them.

Barrie, I know where you are coming from ! My wife and some of my mates think the same way as you, To be honest, I take more interest in England, probably because i’ve Followed/supported the Clarets since 1961. My wife does not understand why i don’t follow the Bluebirds down the road., and Wales to go with it.
As for Wales, Wilson did score a good goal, but generally, you won’t beat teams like Belgium with Championship players.

At half-time I couldn't help think of all the moaning on here about our strikers missing sitters, not taking their chances, and I've often said it's bit unfair on our lads, all strikers miss chances, even the best of them.

Here was the evidence, England's finest, Calvert-Lewin, Sterling, Lingard, missing them by the bucket load, Sterling especially, he could/should have had five in the first half, they made our lads look like four Jimmy Greaves.

Think on that next time Wood heads it straight at the keeper, they all have those games, they all miss them, it's not just Wood, Barnes, Jay and Vydra.

I've never minded strikers missing sitters sinkov, just as long as they get in a position to try and miss another. I think the accepted ration of successful strikes is 1:5.
I know you will go incandescent now, but in the Championship winning season of 2014/15, I was genuinely astonished if Gray missed anything.
I watched Watford the other night winning away 3-0, and he was playing and scoring like he did for us back in that super season.
