    O/t long long time ago.

When I used to post on Pravda there's was a
a heated debate about the lowering of the drink drive limit.

I argued that it was a complete waste of time because it wud not lower accident levels.

I was called the usual ****e when you swim against the tide but low and behold they now want to stop motorists randomly for hee haw as they have found that lowering the drink drive limits has done nothing to accident levels.

    Headline.....Rorros in right again shocker.

Get it right up ye pravda😎

If they brought in random breath tests on Islay and they were done fairly where everybody was breathalysed it would take 50% of the cars off the road. There would not be so many potholes on the roads.
If they did it during the Islay Whisky Week which it the Whitsun week at the end of May the police would have a field day. The distilleries would have to stop handing out nips of whisky.
Random breath tests would not bother me as I never drink and drive. In fact I never have an alcoholic drink if I am driving the next day.

They take the attitude ‘out of sight out of mind’ until there is a major road accident usually caused by drink driving and then all hell breaks lose.

I think there is a generation problem to drink driving also ,my old man would regularly drive totally pished in the 70's early 80's but screwed the nut to a degree later on but it was still a case of how much can I have before I'm over the limit opposed to I'll not have any then I know for sure.
I remember in my local a long and fiery discussion about what would be an acceptable intake after the level was reduced in 2014....one pint, two nips, half pint and a nip Oi Ian you'll be fine with two pints as your a fat chunt.....
I think the drug driving is epidemic among the young drivers....what's worse....

Any idea of the actual numbers of accidents that are directly attributable to driving after a couple of pints as opposed to people just being total arseholes on the road whether drunk or not?

Nut jobs driving at 40mph on single carriageway roads like the A9 are much more dangerous than the guy that's had a couple of pints.

One of the biggest cause of road accidents in Dcotland is the ‘born again’ motor bikers who have their own interpretation of the Highway Code and do not give a toss about other road users.
I no longer travel to and from Dundee to Islay on the A85 on a Sunday as the road is full of motor bikers who congregate at the Green Welly car park in Tyndrum. These motor bikers overtake vehicles on blind corners and weave amongst the traffic. They also do not adhere to the laid down speed limit.
Police Scotland should have a high presence and speed checks every Sunday on the A85 between Lochearnhead and Crianlarich and also in the A82 between Crianlarich and Tyndrum. They would either remove a large number of motor bikers from these stretches of the A85 and A82 or ensure that these motor bikers obey the Highway Code.

As a shall we say seasoned biker I agree with your view to a degree ,the road you speak of always did have a high police presence whenever I have used it on Sundays at least.
Modern bikes are simply way too powerful for UK roads ,my last bike was a sports 600cc and was capable of almost 150mph if you so desired but that was never the reason I had any of my bikes it's just a bike thing and if you don't have it you'll never get it I suppose.
The born agains are what give good bikers a bad name the are a phucking liability that's for sure but there are plenty dick head car drivers also ,firmly believe I'm a far better driver for having bikes over the years regards awareness ,car only drivers don't look past the end of their bonnet by much ,bikers look as far as they can ahead at least that's what I was taught.....
