Please please please give us more of the Rangers pleeeeeaaaaaseeeee

The Board of Motherwell FC wishes to express its extreme anger following the publication of the SPFL Premiership fixtures earlier this morning.

Motherwell, along with Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical, have two home ‘Old Firm’ games pre-split, whereas some of our closest rivals have four, something that has never happened in the history of the SPL / SPFL, as far as we know.

This has a serious financial impact on our club, and we cannot and will not accept it.
It creates a significant financial advantage for some clubs over others and in our view, just as important, compromises the integrity of the competition, both in terms of the potential/need for adjusting respective player budgets up or down and the amount of games teams have to play at what has historically been the most challenging venues.

In previous seasons since the split, there has always been parity where clubs had the same amount of home games against both Old Firm sides (almost always three) and were expected to travel to both Celtic Park and Ibrox the same amount as every other team in the division prior to the split.

There was no hint of this fundamental change until we received the fixtures at 8.02am today and, therefore, like the other clubs in our position, now find ourselves significantly worse off than we were on Thursday night and with insufficient time to make appropriate adjustments.

We expect this unacceptable position to be reversed immediately.

In addition, whilst having sympathy around the difficulty of selecting games for certain times of the year, Motherwell FC believes having two midweek matches away at both Inverness CT and Ross County (the Inverness trip being three days after Christmas) sends out the wrong message.

Where possible, consideration should be given, particularly around the festive period, to the needs of all supporters given we now have two fixtures that will be largely inaccessible for a significant portion of our fan base.

The Board of Partick Thistle FC has expressed anger and frustration at the fixture list for season 2016/17 announced by the SPFL earlier today, which will put the Club and two other Premiership sides at a sporting and financial disadvantage in the forthcoming season.

In previous seasons where both Rangers and Celtic were in the Premiership, pre-split fixtures have been organised to ensure that every club plays three home games against the Old Firm. Without any notification from the SPFL to the contrary, we had expected that this practice would continue this season and that is the basis on which we and other clubs have budgeted.

However, this season we, Motherwell and Hamilton have been handed only two Old Firm games at home whilst Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts have four home games. That means an expected loss in revenues for the Club of £120,000 before a ball is even kicked, whilst other clubs will get an unexpected bonus of a similar figure.

Financial implications aside, we believe there is a significant sporting disadvantage created by the fixture list as it stands. Pre-split, we will make four trips away to the two biggest clubs in the country while some clubs will only make two. In the past, each club has made three trips.

It is also worth noting that, for the second time in three seasons, SPFL fixturing means that we will have no competitive match on the second weekend of the campaign.

Having had no communication from the SPFL explaining these changes prior to this morning’s announcement, Partick Thistle intends to seek compensation from the SPFL for all clubs concerned or that they reconsider the fixture list to ensure a level playing field for all.

These clubs want more games against the 2 clubs with biggest support but this walloper thinks it is all about Rangers. No Celtic fans would dream of posting a thread titled Please please please give us more of the Celtic pleeeeeaaaaaseeeee. Just shows you how insecure the bares are that they are getting excited about being mentioned in the same breath as us.

Sevco have never played in the big league before, so no-one has any idea how many fans they'll take to games when it sinks in they aren't going to win the league, and will probably struggle to make top six. So why make special arrangements.

Not like you to have completely missed the point. No one is pleading fore more more Rangers. The request is for a fair fixture list nothing more nothing less. Remember no one went t1ts up when Rangers imploded, despite the best hopes of Rangers fans. If Rangers had remained down all clubs would have continued as normal. The point being made is the allocation of games is giving some diddies a financial advantage over other diddies over the season. If the much promised boycott by Rangers fans at all away games held true the problem would be solved no one would face a disadvantage, but we all know thats hot air. So if the Rangers fans do turn up in numbers then allocation of the fixture lists does put clubs at a disadvantage. Now that disadvantage probably pleases Rangers fans but who the fpuvk cares that is not the issue. Motherwell Accies and Thistle would be just as happy if every one of the diddies has the same one game each as they are getting. Its called wanting a level playing field. I know thats a difficult concept for some. But dont let the truth get in the way of your delusional thinking.

This shows the immense integrity these clubs have shown when they were prepared to sacrifice revenue to see the right thing was done 4 years ago. Now sevco are in the top league they rightfully want a fair deal. Nothing wrong with that.

And as mog says, it's cringeoworthy how excited you lot get about such small little things. You lot used to brag when you won something. Now you cream yer kegs when your team is mentioned in the same breath as celtic.
