If we are going to have a discussion on the situation the club is facing today and we nearly all agree to a man that Hecky is responsible in part then surely the previous ownership of the club and the new consortium have to come into this also .
There are many pieces to this jigsaw and they all need laying out on the table and not just the convenient one's .
Just because opinion's may not be to the liking of some posters doesn't mean they are not relevant .
We need to amend the plan and change the Head Coach tag to manager and say we'll have 4 experienced pros in team. However, rest of signings need to be 21-25 and selected by the manager himself from his own targets not a spreadsheet compiled by non footballing men. We also need to bring back traditional scouting. That said did the plan really exist anyway. Cryne went out n' bought Winnall, Hourihane, Scowen and Watkins after consulting with Wilson and Johnson. He even went up to Inverness with Johnson to watch Watkins and put through the Winnall transfer himself. No plan there was there? Heckingbottom brought in Moncur and Bradshaw they weren't spreadsheet signings. Neither was Mowatt. No plan there either. Does the plan actually exist or is it just something the club and coaches hide behind a scape goat for when things go wrong?
A lotta questions need answering , wetha that's sooin or not a dunt kno , it sometimes feels sumdi ez hidden last piece ov the Jig saw , valid opinions Animal , so are ivvrybodys , Turmoil ?? All party's seem t be at wunathus throyits , not good , if sumdi frumpt club read the Forums ? Thu cud get some Idea of the way fans think , burrav sed befoor we don't seem t matta until it's time t renew S/Ts , still think will stay up tho
A new broom allus sweeps clean. Owners quoted as saying they factored in relegation when they took over. All they've done wrong is not sacking Heckingbottom when they took over. Performances have in the main been better under Morais. Hecky was too negative.
I've said on another thread there is some merit to the spreadshet policy but it's not the be all and end all and last summer they went overboard with it .
As long as I've watched football the successful teams have a mix of youth and experience , when Fergie fetched Neville , Scholes , Butt and Beckham into his team in 95 he'd the sense to throw them in with Pallister , Irwin , Keane , Schmeical and Cantona .
To my mind and I'm happy for someone to counter this but the only reason we adopt the policy we do is to sell players on for a profit , a successful team doesn't come in to it , how can it if you continuously sell your top talent when the books are balanced ?
We've lost sight of the very reason Barnsley Football club exists , to try and be successful on the field within our budget .
When Jimmy Murphy tapped Matt Busby on the shoulder and said
" boss , I've got another young apple that's ripe "
Busby didn't reply by saying
" great news Jimmy , how much do you think The Wolves will pay us for him " did he .
Let's get back to becoming a football club again please .
Win lose , draw , championship , league one or two , it doesn't matter just as long as we are trying to build a team and not individuality .
That's so fecking tory it boils my pyss .
Hecky is a Barnsley fan but not in the same sense we support the club ESR .
Once they get into pro football it changes everything , Kenny Dalglish was a Rangers fan when he signed for Celtic , Jamie Carragher was an Evertonian apparently .
Almost impossible to turn the Leeds job down if you are ambitious , he didn't even need to move house or take his kids out of school either .
What we can realistically achieve here and what can be achieved at Leeds are miles apart , they all back themselves to be the one , he gets it right there and there isn't anything they can't challenge for .
Whether he does is another matter but that's not our problem now .
