    Mwenge (Mombasa) 1-2

    A few well-known teams there!
Makes sense that the results trailed off as soon as we reached the breweries. I’d love to know the story behind that particular tour. This is what Dave McVay wrote in “Steak, Diana Ross…”

“RONNIE FENTON: While Jimmy went to Sheffield, Ronnie endured an unhappy Notts County tenure although he was responsible for boldly going where no Notts manager had gone before, beyond Gibraltar on exotic tours to Magaluf and Kenya.”

Norwich City were originally booked for the Kenyan trip but had to pull out. Thanks to a parliamentary colleague of Jack Dunnett’s telling him of this, Notts replaced them. The trip was sponsored by the brewery, who paid for Notts’ flights, and a five-star hotel on the coast. They were offered an extension to the tour to include Uganda, but as Idi Amin was in charge back then, Notts turned the offer down.

A behind-closed-doors friendly against Leicester City is the latest addition to our pre-season schedule.

A free live stream will be provided as we visit the Premier League outfit's state-of-the-art training ground.

Supporters can also look forward to a trip to York City’s new stadium* for a match which will commemorate their centenary, while we will also face Cambridge, Boston and Basford.

Two further friendlies, along with ticket details for all pre-season matches, will be confirmed in due course.

    Pre-season schedule

    Tuesday 5 July: Basford United (A) – 7.45pm
    Saturday 9 July: Leicester City (A - BCD) - 1pm
Tuesday 12 July: To be announced
    Saturday 16 July: Cambridge United (A - St Neots Town) – 1pm
    Wednesday 20 July: Boston United (A) – 7.45pm
Monday 25 July: To be announced
    Saturday 30 July: York City (A)* – 3pm
*Should we face York in the opening eight fixtures of the National League season, new opposition will be arranged

The Vanarama National League season commences on Saturday 6 August.

Last time we played Leicester in a pre season friendly, they gave us a right run around.
Might be better off having a 5 a side against a full Derby squad!
