Joe Allan out again tomorrow, are they afraid he’ll get injured for the World Cup?
Swansea v Blackburn Sat 6 Aug 2022 k.o. 15:00
First home match of the new season and so important to get that first win under our belt.
After the season opening 1-1 draw at Rotherham last Saturday without the injured Cabango and Allen, we hope the goals will come this time from our forwards. With all the possession we’re getting we should be creating more chances
Blackburn’s danger man is Brereton-Diaz, 22 goals last season and is one to watch.
Weather forecast is sunny and it’s the first match on the newly re-laid pitch.
I’m hoping for a bumper crowd in the sunshine and a comfortable win for the Swans.
Joe Allan out again tomorrow, are they afraid he’ll get injured for the World Cup?
This was the team:
Swansea: Andy Fisher, Nathan Wood, Kyle Naughton, Harry Darling, Joel Latibeaudiere, Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (c), Ryan Manning, Joel Piroe, Olivier Ntcham, Michael Obafemi.
Subs: Steven Benda, Ben Cabango, Jamie Paterson, Matty Sorinola, Ollie Cooper, Cameron Congreve, Liam Cullen.
The new season was upon us, the scene was set, everybody looking forward with optimism to doing well in our first home game.
A lovely sunny day, perfect pitch, big crowd, excited to see their team in action with a brand of attacking football that would produce plenty of goals.
Unfortunately we soon realised our players were not at the party, producing the most inept display of football since Martin took over.
Blackburn dominated throughout and thoroughly deserved their bumper win with an aggressive defensive display and hitting us on the break with devastating ease.
Blackburn had four shots on target with 29% possession, and scored with three of them, we had five shots on target and scored zilch.
When their third goal went in there was a mass exodus of Swans fans, unable to bear any more, and boos rang out around the stadium at the final whistle.
The watching Jake Silverstein, having recently pumped money into the club, must have been totally unimpressed with what he saw.
Martin harped on last season about not having a pre-season, well he got one this season and our play is worst than ever.
Third from bottom in the table and in a relegation spot, yes only two games gone but alarm bells are already ringing.
Not good enough guys. Left after the third goal went in. Weak defending for the goals.
Ex-Swan Ryan Hedges beat Fulton for the first, downhill after that.
Lack of confidence, lack of leadership, weak squad without Downes, Wolf, and Christie.
Replacements so far poor, outlook grim on this showing boys.
