I wish we would do away with loan signings. Either sign players on short-term deals on free transfers or utilise our great academy. I'd say of all the loan signings we've had two have been very good. Andy Webster and Curtis Good.[/QUOTE]

    Depends on the player though.

For example, Willo first came to us on loan (from Man City IIRC) and did us a good turn and won himself a deal sith us. John Eustace from Coventry was a good player for us and would have been a welcome addition to us, but he wanted to go back sown South and try to make it there after his loan with us was up. Safranko was a decent loan player for us as well.

But, your right, it's slim pickings amongst some real garbage like Alex Nicholls, Laurie Dalle Valle etc, etc.

Essentially, I like the fact that a 6-month or season long loan gives you a substantial period to evaluate a player's suitability. But, yeah, I get that it is not nice to develop a kid only for some other club to reap the benefits.

The state our club is in ATM though means that is less likely that we will get decent loan players coming to us.

I don't like loans either, but in our current predicament, they can really benefit us if we get decent players in, and we should be the top loan option for SPL teams. On a purely negative-positive, better getting an Adam Barton on loan than on a two year deal. If we do get up it also releases fees to put into the top flight rebuild, rather than being stuck with players on two year deals that might be good enough to get you out the chumpionship, but at the same time aren't good enough for the top flight.

Aiden McGeady sings 2 year deal with Ayr United. Good signing for them if he stays injury free. Until he got injured last season he was one of Hibs best players.

With regards to Adam Barton I would mention Rabbitch & Loemba as well those signings were woeful. Years ago you could get rid of players throughout the season and buy if finances allowed. Having to do business purely in the Windows is a sh!te state of affairs. Do TW really make the product on offer for the paying punter/season ticket holder any better?

It's like Black Friday, you have a bit of dosh saved up for (let's say) that 90 inch plasma TV, but by the time you get there , strangely enough , someone else has done their homework and bought it before you. But........... hey... We still have that money, and time is running out. Look.... there's a wee black and white portable nobody really wants left in the corner, time is tight, and... it is a bargain... why not? Kiddin' obviously, but, transfer windows just put un-needed pressure on clubs looking to buy.
