I think you're right, I hope you're wrong. I hope the young lads continue to gain in confidence and step up to be the required quality and this cup campaign is an aberration. Not to fussed about going out, a trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow just now could crush this fragile team early in the season.

Definitely signs of improvement, liked the clutch of bookings tonight, but of fight, been missing for a year!

Signs of improvement from a complete abomination of an early pre-season, yes, but we were still poor. Very little creativity in that side. We still huff & puff without being able to find that killer pass. This was a League One side remember. We need to up our game massively in just over a weeks time at Gayfield.

What a time to be a Utd supporter reading that last line back. 😕

Loved the way Grimshaw clattered their winger near the end as if to say don't even bother!

There was some decent stuff, as theArab said Fotheringham looked good, very smart anticipation for his goal. Docherty was ok too, created some chances but how is it we're unable to put even one away? Back to that lack of quality.

    Still, a good work out.

Is Jim Paterson playing left-back for us tonight? Better from McMann but Paterson had a better cross on him.

Shows how opinions vary because I thought McMann was very decent. Freeman on the other hand, terrible. Have to start Grimshaw there in the league.

Have been harping on for ages re lack of creativity, it’s been the case for at least 3 years , unbelievable it’s still not been sorted , sorry but Glass , Meekison or Mochrie ain’t the answer , if we get Gallagher think that may well that as far as signings go

Was just about to type this.
Gallagher will sort our backline as long as Goodwin selects Grimshaw at RB
    Docherty and Sibbald, tick.
Moult will score if fit and chances created for him and as you correctly point out that's where we're short on quality.
The big plus in all this is that Fotheringham is emerging from the pack.

I am less gloomy about our creativity. Different victory tonight. Battled to earn it in the second half. That is a positive too though. Still think that a number of the young lads offer us creativity. The more they play, the better they will get.

Based on scraping this tonight we are looking like a bottom half championship/League 1 team results wise, mid table after gelling.

I dont see a promotion at present, maybe not even playoffs.

Hate to say it but time to get comfy as a fundesliga club at this point, unless alot changes.
