Just doesn’t make any sense to me. It can only be financial from our point of view or that he hasn’t had the game time that he thought that he would receive. I agree that a player should not be recalled if he is going to be loaned out to another club. In Sarmiento’s case I was under the impression that it was because of Brighton’s increasing injury list but obviously not so.

This will be financial on our part. Sarmiento won’t get any more game time within a good Ipswich side who are consistently better than us hence their excellent position.

Can’t see him getting much game time there at all. He’ll come on as a sub like here. Pointless.

The Ecuadorian journalist reported via X [2 January] that the Brighton winger is set to join Championship side Ipswich on a six-month loan, having been recalled from his loan with the Baggies early due to a lack of game time.

As others have said, surely this can only be about money? Personally think that Sarmiento has talent but he certainly still has a lot to improve on in his game and cannot see him getting any more game time in a reasonably settled -and successful-Ipswich side than he has with us. Anyhow, whilst it obviously depletes our already thin squad, I'd still rather bring on Fellows ahead of him.

Agree with others, the lack of game time excuse doesn't really add up, maybe it is about money although apparently we are looking at bringing 2 players in one to replace Phillip's.

All about a club with the right ambition going for a player who can help them maintain their league position, loosing him does weaken us, he is a talent who scares defenders. FOL now!!!

Spot on there Dave. Look at the ambition of Sunderland with very talented kids and a payroll around 18 million less than ours. Sunderland were brilliant last year and about the same as us this season. What does that tell us? Everything can’t be blamed on Lai for awful deals and crap players!!!

What worries me is whether we are close to not being able to pay wages and Brighton have decided not to risk it.

Tail wagging the dog here. We had a deal for the club. Sarmiento wants a deal to suit him. Corberan is a very intelligent manager. If he’s not starting he’s not reliable enough yet. What’s he going to do if Ipswich don’t play him much? Jump ship again? He’s a nob.
