Exactly my thoughts. The only thing in favour of Blackburn is that they allowed us to keep Pixie on loan for the rest of the season and may do the same again.
Okay, so the reports suggest a half million release clause so he's going. However, there's reported to be 7 clubs including Blackburn interested so surely 500,000 is merely a starting point. Shouldn't there be a bidding war that pushes up that figure if there are so many interested?

Wow, didn't know there were 7 clubs interested.
Hopefully we get a lot more than £500k, and that there is a decent sell-on percentage ...
Actually Bournemouth have the injury crisis, so they have recalled Hill who had a season long loan deal with Blackburn with Bournemouth having a recall option. O'Riordan is in response to Blackburn losing Hill's services, but he may also just be a replacement for the future and may start on the bench. Although several clubs may be interested the fee is fixed £500k, it's up to O'Riordan to decide which of any interested clubs he may want to go, but Blackburn are the only club who have triggered the clause so they get to talk to him and Blackburn think it's a done deal.
Is the deal still on? I know there was a dispute between the clubs over payment. Has this dispute reached an impasse? What about Preston and Blackpool who were apparently waiting in the wings for the deal to fail?
Rovers definitely wanted to pay in several instalments which to my mind doesn't trigger the release clause - if we have to take £500k it should at least be Paid! Rumour has it Preston don't want to pay all up front too.
It's unlikely that we will get any more than the sell on clause £500k, any club that wishes to buy his services will just activate the clause in his contract and then hold talks with the player and/or his agent. If more than one club wishes to activate that clause then the player would have to decide where he wants to go. However, the club does not have to accept stage payments as seems to be the situation at the moment, the clause says £500k, not £100k now and a bit more later. If they don't have £500k then they should clear off.
Wasn't there a similar situation with Nick Powell albeit a vastly greater amount. Didn't Manchester United pay £3m with a view to paying a further £3m in instalments. Powell, of course, fell out of favour after Ferguson retired and Moyes didn't rate him enough to play him so loaned him out to Wigan. The rest is history
