My son has ordered some tickets for the Rotherham game and I have received an email from the club telling me that I have to download an ‘app’ and go through some rigmarole to get them on to my phone. Anyone else suffering this nonsense? Why can’t they just either post me the tickets or send as an attachment to the email, so I can just print them? So annoying that a simple process has to be made more complicated; what if someone doesn’t have a smartphone?
I might be going to the away game at Sheffield Wednesday, though.
There is an option to have tickets posted to you. There IS. If buying online today they may have done you the favour of not relying on the Post Office to deliver them in time for Wednesday.
Last time I bought a mate a ticket for a home league game the person buying them (me) had an option to print off at home. You can also pick them up from the ticket office on the day if you have time.
You don't need to download anything unless it's your preferred option. You don't need a smartphone or even a slightly challenged one. You just need to read the available options and tick the boxes appropriately. Enjoy the game 😉 .
I always used to print at home if I purchased an extra ticket for someone visiting but last time it wasn't an option. I had to download the app and then iot simply didn't work. The ticket wasn't loaded so on the day of the game I went into the ticket office and they quickly printed off for me but was a pain messing with the app.
I used to use the option to download the PDF and print off at work (it was free) but this appears to have been taken away. I do have the app on my phone since a friend bought the early round FA cup tickets and distributed them to us (so I had no choice). The ticket can be viewed as soon as purchased but only becomes active on the day of the match (it has worked the 2 times I have used it).
Having had a reccy of the ticket site earlier I can also confirm there's no longer a print off option. I can only imagine this is something to do with a green drive aimed at lowering the use of paper etc.
There is however still the option to collect tickets from the ticket office. While post is still available for Sunderland it's not available for Rotherham so as previously stated this will be to avoid late delivery via post.
Both fixtures are available for immediate download via the app. The advantage being there's no £1.75 admin charge when purchasing tickets for download so there are upsides to clicking a link. Save money while saving the planet.
