    Comparing this season to last.

Just had a quick look at the points we finished on last season compared to where we are now.

    Last season - 4th - 71pts

Celebrated for a brilliant season, rightly so.

Currently with 3 to play, 9pts available we're on 56pts.

We win all 3 we finish with 65 pts. Two wins off our best finish more than a decade.

    Eddie Howe & Jasooooon Tiiiiiindaaaaal!

I literally said 'WOW' out loud.

    Goal Difference last season +35.
    Goal Difference this season +11.

That's something quite remarkable. To think we're only potentially 2 wins off our points total from last season but shipped 24 more goals.

Losing Pope & Botman has been key to that swing in goals against.

Shines a light on getting in Mamardashvili to compete with Pope some what!

Just imagine that if this had been our first season under E.H. and last season had been the second, in other words reversed there would have been very little criticism from those who expected more than we could deliver only because of the injury situation.

    Precisely.

People outside the fanbase and those who are clueless within jumped up and down and screamed blue murder that we weren't playing as consistently well as we did last season, however, as the state show. If we can win our last 3 we'll end up just 6 points off our total from last season, our 4th place finish.

What it actually shows is that other teams, Villa, Liverpool for example, have improved their seasonal performance substantially meaning that to achieve a 3rd or 4th place finish clubs performances have raised. More points from the 38 matches.

We have under performed due to our first team mostly being unavailable throughout the season. We're gonna finish up potentially 6 points off last season. So, we didn't under perform so badly in reality.

What it means is that people's expectations were raised based on last seasons excellent performance. We all agreed that Eddie's boys kind of 'overachieved' to finish 4th last season.

People expect year on year success, it's natural. However it's not realistic. Finishing 6th is as impressive as last seasons 4th place finish.

    Next season is gonna awesome!

Just a great time to be a NUFC fan. Geordie booooooooooooys!

    HWtL!
