If the Wallsend result is owt but a win for them the girls have a great chance of lifting the silverware.

Credit to all involved. We’ll done.

Wallsend result now in and they have bottled it--

    ..........................Wallsend 1 Wakefield 2

League Table after 5th May games--

    ..............Team.....................P....W....D ....L....GD....Pts

    1....Spennymoor...................22...16...1....5 ....38....46 (3 pts deducted )

    2....Barnsley.........................20...15...1. ...4....36....46

    3....South Shields..................21...13...2....6....31... .41

    4....Wallsend.........................20...13...2. ...5....17....41

Jess's Women need one more point from their remaining two games--Wallsend A and Wakefield H to be promoted due to 19 goal better GD than Wallsend

Spennymoor would pip them on GD if Barnsley lost both remaining games
Wallsend would pip them if they beat Barnsley next week and won their final game if Barnsley lost both games.

    It's looking good.

The attention of the football world turns to Kirkley Park, Wallsend, this weekend.

Jess Horsley's Barnsley Feminines roll into town needing a point to ensure promotion to the Fourth Tier--the Division One North- in the Women's Football structure.
It sets up the mouthwatering prospect of a huge local derby between the two Barnsley clubs--

.................Barnsley FC (Women) -v- Barnsley Women's Football Club.

The Fourth Tier is semi professional with wages (mainly part time) being allowed. I am informed that there is a big jump in quality between the Fifth and Fourth Tiers--a bit like the Men's Third Division to the Championship, but with the backing, including financial, of Parekh and JAQ. I am sure, if any team can do it, that team is Jess's Super Reds.

    Wow, just Wow. Thanks Animal.

This gives a clear idea of the levels Barnsley FC have now reached under Jess Horsley and the standards at the top of the league in the Fifth Tier. A ruthless performance (Ruth was injured ).
A little more work may be needed by South Shields in defence and the standard of keeping has always been an issue in the Women's game.
The crowd added to the atmosphere I thought. It was instructive to compare the actual game against the write up on the Official Site.

On to Wallsend and the Fourth Tier beckons.

Football prepares for what could be a momentous day.

Kirkley Park is quiet at the moment. Just a few media people having a bacon sandwich.

By 1-50 pm the place will be rocking as Jess Horsley's Feminines roll into town seeking to clinch promotion.

Early in the season this game was abandoned as a thunderstorm of biblical proportions hit the ground with Wallsend winning 1-0. The Good Lord could send another one there today. It may be the only thing that prevents the Women of Grove Street getting the point they need.

Fans travelling North are advised that road congestion around Wallsend is anticipated and to leave plenty of time for the journey. KO 2pm.

Go Well You Red Women ! This is the day.
