Just as an aside chaps, have you noticed what a ball ache it is sorting out all of your medication for these long trips at our time of life? ��

Getting the prescriptions for extended trips and then making sure you split that medication and pack it in different bags in case it gets lost whilst travelling! ����

When me and the wife travel they look at me during the bag check like I’m Walter White from Breaking Bad I’m carrying so much gear!

Tell me about it! I have to take a considerable amount of medication and always make sure I take more than required in case of ‘contingencies’ like happened a couple of years ago. Nobody has yet discovered my massive stash and I have given up worrying if they do

Do visit Lynton and Lynmouth as one of the very few seaside resorts that’s retained its charm and named the Little Switzerland. Because there’s no amusement arcades and tack - it’s mainly nice tourists ( no yobs ) and lots of overseas visitors. Fantastic walks and scenery!

I don’t drink and I’m a rarity in that pubs do nothing for me.

The Swan does have a very good reputation though.

I can survive without the statins and BP tablets for a few weeks...it's the little blue tablets that I dread losing

Mick Madeira is a must, been a few times with the family - lovely place, clean, safe, good restaurants and the prices are fair.

Not much for me this year, a 4-day cycling trip to the Pyrenees with the lads and I might shoot over to Ireland for a few days to catch up with some family who I've not seen for a good while.
