PL Dash 2023/2024 - Results of fixtures of 19/5/23.

The following set of fixtures was the PL Dash, the final matches of the "regular" PL competition and a stand-alone competition for a trophy in its own right.

Anyone who had taken part in the PL at any point this season was eligible to enter through predicting the scorelines for:

    (P) Arsenal v Everton (2-1)
    (P) Brentford v Newcastle (2-4)
    (P) Brighton and Hove Albion v Manchester United (0-2)
    (P) Burnley v Nottingham Forest (1-2)
    (P) Chelsea v AFC Bournemouth (2-1)
    (P) Crystal Palace v Aston Villa (5-0)
    (P) Liverpool v Wolverhampton Wanderers (2-0)
    (P) Luton Town v Fulham (2-4)
    (P) Manchester City v West Ham United (3-1)
    (P) Sheffield United v Tottenham Hotspur (0-3)

    The rules:

In the event of a tie for first place, the eventual Dash winner will be determined to be (in order) the poster with

    1) The most correct outcomes

    followed by

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored

    followed by

    3) The earliest to post (based on their last valid posting)

    So, here are the results:

Table is in format:- poster/points scored/number of correct outcomes/predicted number of goals/order of posting

    Dalek_Sec / 30 / 8 / 25 / 14
    Sniffer999 / 30 / 6 / 33 / 8
    Lufcjohn88 / 30 / 6 / 31 / 13
    Hopelesslyoptimistic / 27 / 5 / 41 / 2
    Belper69Ram / 24 / 8 / 41 / 15
    MORRIM / 24 / 6 / 33 / 10
    Cherrypie7 / 24 / 6 / 27 / 16
    Monaco_Totty / 24 / 6 / 24 / 6
    Orgoner / 21 / 7 / 25 / 17
    Tichi1 / 21 / 5 / 27 / 7
    Hgatenasty / 21 / 3 / 30 / 1
    Alfinyalcabo / 21 / 3 / 30 / 4
    UbiqueLUFC33 / 18 / 6 / 30 / 9
    Deklufc / 18 / 4 / 29 / 5
    Silentman / 18 / 6 / 25 / 11
    Ozwhites / 18 / 6 / 24 / 12
    CalverleyBoy / 18 / 4 / 22 / 3

There were sixty points up for grabs from the final ten Premier League games and some of the real teams took these fixtures more seriously than others.

Dalek_Sec (OOxOOOOOEO), Lufcjohn88 (OOxxEOEOOO) and Sniffer999 (OxOEOOExOO) all impressively scored half of the available sixty points. However, I'm far too cheap to buy more than one trophy, so which of this trio was ultimately declared to be the winner?

The final Dash rankings were determined by:

    1) The most correct outcomes

Dalek (eight outcomes, one exact). Lufcjohn88 (six outcomes, two exact). Sniffer999 (six outcomes, two exact).

    Dalek_Sec is placed first

No discrimination between second and third, so...

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored (37)

    Lufcjohn88 (31 goals). Sniffer999 (33 goals).

Sniffer999 just sneaks the "official" second Dash place over Lufcjohn88. Bragging rights only, I'm afraid!

Dalek_Sec is the official PL 2023/2024 Dash winner

Assuming he hasn't moved (I'll send a PM, mate!), Dalek_Sec will be receiving yet another addition (well, two!) to add to his trophy cabinet in the near(ish) future.

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to bother to enter and, assuming there's enough interest (or WTF sanctions it), the 22nd version of the PL competition (with this corresponding Dash at the end) should start again later this year!

    All the best! Stay safe!
