Fkin unbelievable hoping one of our own gets banned.

    what's the worst that happens?

he sits for the spell of the suspension and Meslier gets a chance. If he does as good as we hope he's earned the spot for the season and given MB's midset that once someone earns a spot it's theirs until they are injured or suspended. allows him to save face and yet still improve the spot. If he chokes then kiki goes back in.

FWIW, I don't think the FA will suspend him. They want us in the championship. Good for attendance and interest for the entire league.

Theres no other way Meslier is going to get any Championship game time, and if it's good to give Bamford a rest and "cool down" (as you agree with apparently), why not the keeper? Its not as though those who would come in at either end of the pitch are dead certs to do the business.

I thought Ayling was back to his best form for a while, Phillips was very good; particularly some of his long range passing and Costa had a good 1st half. Coco only had about 3 touches and he almost cocked one of those up. I have noticed that one of the reasons are crosses looked so poor (apart from the fact that some of them just are) is that Barndoor rarely runs across the front of any defenders, instead he seems to place defenders bew**** himself and the crosser with the end result that he never gets on the end of a cross. Maybe his confidence is so diminished that he would rather not receive the ball so he doesn't screw it up again?

Sorry but you dont wish for your own banned, Bamford i do agree although for the time being i think he should start games, if Meslier does make a mistake at this stage of the season it could ruin him

But how else would Meslier get game time (this or any other swason), when Casilla appears to be able to do everything a keeper shouldn't do, and still gets selected? Apart from injury, what's the point of having a No. 2 (and surely you're not suggesting that's why we have choices in every other position on the pitch, and they get used)?

I just think he is too young to be thrown into a promotion push, just my opinion. It may be that we have to if Kiko gets banned.

Wouldn't disagree about the lad being young, but we knew that when he came in on loan, and isn't every season a promotion push until we get promoted? Back to the implication in my earlier post, would have been the sensible thing to see him get Championship game time before and after the Arsenal match, keep Casilla honest (as best we can), and give Messlier some exposure to what he might now have to face, in advance.

Paul Robinson was only just 19 when he made his first team debut against Chelsea and kept a clean sheet. He seemed to manage reasonably well thereafter.

We had a young keeper last season and the team was doing well sp MB bought this clown in and what happen we all know. 19 years old aren't kids they are adults and only have to see Hartland kid the same age hasn't harmed him neither that Chelsea young striker.
If they are good enough they play and all this age thing is a myth especially goalkeepers.
Ps good to see everyone getting on for a change the forum is a better place for it. As for this sick old fart i woke up 2 am to watch but body gave way just after we scored and didn't see it out but glad we won.
