Tsk tsk Stewarty, trying to portray independence as a fait accompli is at best premature, at worst downright disingenuous
Thing is Standfree the genie is out of the bottle 2014 and the run up to it opened peoples eyes to an argument they'd never heard before. Main drivers for Independence, which are becoming clearer by the day.
Our people's personal experience of being better served by a Scottish Government, whose only aim is the welfare of our people, our communities and our businesses, Westminster's complete and utter disinterest, indeed disdain for the needs and aspirations of our people and Westminster leaders', particularly Johnson and that wee fascist Farage astonishing admission that they will be prepared to, in a dictatorial fashion, ignore a Scottish majority mandate for ScotRef, now and in the future. The new younger generation see this as clear as a Zoltan Varga pass. Of course its inevitable as our neighbours of all different classes go in a completely opposite direction and if you look just a wee bit closer SF you will clearly see this one-side unequal Union falling apart at the seems

Well, we're all going to have to sit and watch the English decide our future on Thursday night / Friday morning.

The fact that it's Friday 13th doesn't bode well.

Get used to the idea that if the English vote Boris in with a majority then there will never be Scottish independence in most, if not all, of our lifetimes.

The other thing that worries me is that it's never going to be in the Labour Party's interest to allow the Scottish seats to disappear from Westminster.
It would almost guarantee 100 years of Tory governments.

This is what really bugs me about our electoral system.

You refer to a Scottish majority mandate for ScotRef and for sure SNP will win a clear majority if the polls are correct. However they will win something like 75-80% of the Scottish seats from around 42-44% of the vote. It is highly likely that a majority of Scottish people will vote for parties that are against holding another Scottish independence referendum yet Nicola will claim the "Scottish people" have voted for another Independence Referendum which will be utter *******s.

Likewise the Tories may win a majority of UK seats with around 40-42% of the UK vote (I still maintain there will be enough tactical voting in England to prevent a majority but we will see). It is highly likely that a majority of UK people will vote for parties that don't want Brexit based on the current deal yet Boris will use this as a justification that the "British people" have voted for his Brexit deal, which will also be utter *******s.

We really need to move to an electoral system where every vote actually counts and eliminates all tactical voting. For sure this will lead to almost permanent coalition Governments but surely that will be an improvement on what we have currently and will eliminate extremes from both ends of the political spectrum

Nah min. If Boris does win a majority it won't take him long to f@ck up Government and either he loses a vote of confidence (depending on the size of his majority) or loses the next election (because labour will turf out Corbyn if Boris wins a majority and hopefully go for a less extreme leader and will be well positioned to win the next election). Either way if there is a demand for an independence referendum at that time (and regardless of what Stewarty says there has not been a single opinion poll that shows a majority in favour of an independence referendum over the next couple of years) then we will get one under a Labour Government

Proportional reprsentation is a very bad idea, you never know what kind of coalition you will end up with. Look at Germany where they have the equivalent of a Conservative/Labour coalition. How do you get rid of that?

The best feature of the current system is that it is easy to kick the b@stards out.

If Boris takes us out of the EU, then the cowardly Scots will never vote for independence.

Our only hope is for both countries to remain within the EU
