The Michael Smith thing makes perfect sense as somebody who can play full back and drop into central defensive midfield if required. The drop off in levels against Dunfermline with firstly no Docherty and then no Grimshaw in the middle due to Freeman’s injury was frightening. The risks of repeats of this are frankly too high a risk to take. Similarly, exactly the same thing will happen up front should anything happen to Moult. We all saw that coming last season with Fletcher, yet nothing was done until, what would you know it, Fletcher gets injured for the crucial last games of the season. We’re not asking the earth here - surely there’s a Nicky Clark type out there who won’t cost the earth but could do a job if required?

Oh well, we are at the last day of the window where it slams shut! Bit overdramatic as usual by the press, and while i see that Michael Smith is strongly rumoured as signing, we really could do with a couple of others to come in. Maybe we could still move some on to create space.

Im strangely not that fussed if we dont sign someone today as the window is not slamming shut, as there will inevitably be a number of players who have not found clubs and indeed freed today, some who may just fit our bill. Then there is the loan market that can still be exploited i believe, and i would not be surprised if a player who doesnt like travelling comes back in!

Essentially, i did not see our restructuring being complete in this window, and i didnt see it completed in the January window either, but it does appear we have made some quite good signing we need to keep fit.

Smith deal is off apparently, and we sent our young RB out on loan this week too. Club is a shambles.

Yip, he was never getting a game, let's be honest.

If we desperately needed him, I'm sure we could recall him.

Wondering why we have Denham on loan when he's unlikely to play unless Dec gets injured. Surely the point of players going on loan is to get games. Might as well send him back so we can bring in someone we actually need. We are a shambles when it comes to transfer windows, and I'm not using the we're skint excuse because Ogren isn't skint, but he will be if he continues this naivety.

If Dec gets injured it will be Graham that comes in so he's 4th choice

It's a kick in the goolies not getting a last-minute diamond in but let's trust Oor Jim with the players he's got.

I'm sure they tried very hard but it must be torture out there in Agentland and we don't want to be getting someone in purely for the sake of it. I give you Arnaud Djoum, Rakish Bingham & Osman Sow, I could go on.

And if things don't go well this month we apparently have til the end of the month to get in a loaner.

Denham is right sided so would be more likely to cover that side of defence rather than left sided Graham I'd think. But then again he looked mince so who knows. His parent club aren't gonna see the point of him being here and not getting games though so it all seems a bit pointless.

You'd think we hadn't got all our main business done in July

It's not been a poor window by any stretch, maybe currently without 1 or 2 extra that would have been the icing

Overall though our team/squad isn't bad, there is still January to come
