3rd place gives an earlier start but at least a chance to return to beating a team in Europe.
Unless including Welsh pub team (Llanelli), whom we struggled to beat home tie, I can't recall NOT being pumped in Europe.
We're not/never have been tactically aware or competent to play European style football.
Who do you think we could beat as we're the whipping boys everyone wants :/
Care not a jot if we qualify as strain on our meagre financial resources - view external link

Your attachment suggests otherwise. Anyway, we LOST to Llanelli 1-0 in the home tie before winning 3-0 in Wales.
We've defeated the might of the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Albania and even NORWAY.
Every time we've come up against streetwise European opponents we are found wanting which can't be altogether surprising given resources comparisons.
The point was that the 2nd qualifying round might give us a chance of playing a similarly small team.

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but if Aberdeen finish 2cnd and Dundee United finish third AND win the cup, do we still qualify.

I assume tongue firmly in cheek when replied above
Teams comprising of fishermen, goat herdsmen, oilmen and barmen before being pumped next round.
"Found wanting" an alternative to "being pumped"

Now know what we wand is a definite DRAW that would guarantee us 3rd place and if we managed to win wed night we would only need draw on Sunday to get 2nd place

A draw 100% is what is needed, but i think Utd are going to pump Aberdeen on Tuesday.

We certainly had no divine right to beat Aalesund. The others in that list are more in the minnow category.

Fact is though in all our recent adventures we've not yet been knocked by a team which wasn't strong favorites against us. Though looking at likely opponents this year, I fear that may change.

United are capable of anything and Aberdeen are on a wobble. Fingers crossed for a draw but if united hit their stride, we'll need a result on Wednesday.
