Care homes have been a cash cow for their owners for years , I know I've had relatives in them being charged £600 plus per week and that's 10 years ago , they should have had to buy there own PPE over the years , instead they want it funded by the NHS and anybody else , whilst they continue to rip families off and continue making millions , Care homes were one of the boom growths over the last 30 years , I wonder Why

Tha needs to distinguish between Residential Home funding and Nursing Home funding Roma. The NHS picks up most of the bills for Nursing Home places where a significant element of nursing care is involved to avoid hospital beds being taken. This would include providing PPE if the old person's needs were that severe.
Av no truck with the Care Home owners who were/are making substantial profits out of the system and see it simply as a business.

I worry abart whats going on in Care Homes at the moment. We are being told nowhere near enough. Last "official" detail we had was that 200 odd had died from CV19. My arse.

Most of the residential homes in this area have been closed , the private ones are still thriving , some have been on TV recently saying they need help with PPE ,

They are classified as "Residential" Homes whether they are are privately owned or not. Austerity cuts over the last decade have closed most Local Authority owned homes but the old people were placed and funded by Local Authorities into privately owned homes alongside those who are deemed to be "wealthy" enough to pay "privately" ie have wealth in terms of owning a home or with significant savings. Am not defending the system. It all needs sorting art.
As I said in my previous post I suspect there is a CV19 horror story yet to be revealed in Care Homes resulting in the panic pleas for PPE.

It was reported this morning that the Turkey shipment arrives today! However..........It will take time to get it out to the front line as the last shipment they received had things labelled wrong in boxes so each crate has to be opened to check it's the right PPE and some of the masks that were sent failed safety tests?????

I get all that SB, I've a neighbour who owns 2 Care homes on the outskirts of Town , Her and her husband appear to live ? A life of luxury , 4 flash cars on the drive etc etc , whilst I get on well with them both and wish them no harm , i find it incredible they are asking for help re PPE , like you say an horror story is looming fast ,

Just to be clear Roma, are they asking for help to pay for PPE or are they asking for help cos they cant put their hands on any PPE which they themselves would pay for ?

I'm not sure about that to be honest , my point is why haven't they prepared ( although I know who could be prepared for this lot ) surely they could have had some of their own PPE in stock , They were on the local news asking for help with supplies of this equipment , so are many more homes , wherever they get funding from local government etc , these are very wealthy people who appear to be blaming anyone but themselves ,
