Glossop, Darwen and Accrington (distinct from Stanley) also played in the top flight in the early days. The first two presumably play somewhere in the pyramid, though maybe as phoenix clubs.
Clubs not mentioned above who have been out of the top flight longer than Notts.....
1989/90 MILLWALL
1979/80 BRISTOL CITY
1974/75 CARLISLE UTD
1965/66 NORTHAMPTON T
1962/63 LEYTON ORIENT
1960/61 PRESTON NE
The Latics could be saved by the Bell's.
To be fair to Sheridan, he has had some decent success in the past, but does now seem to be a pretty high risk appointment. You would imagine managers out of work aren't exactly falling over themselves to land the Oldham job though, so they may not have had much choice.
I'd much rather Stevenage (for obvious reasons) and Walsall (because I'll never get over them jammy **** beating us in the 88 play offs largely thanks to a freak equaliser) come down, but Scunny and Oldham have looked favourites for some time now.
There's a drink over here called "Football Special" He could try that, but it is only a fizzy drink. Could put a few drops of Bells in it
It could be another one to add to Jim Rodwell's trail of destruction, FL clubs dropping into non-league after he's done with them. He's at Sunderland now.
Edit: Just googled him. Left Sunderland, briefly at Peterborough. Most recently linked with Hull. Somebody commented on one of the Hull articles... "Anything with the useless Jim Rodwell involved never ends well."
