Was there any cricket played in Germany at the time Sub, I reckon you would have been one of the best if there had been.

There certainly was, although on my first tour, in 1967 to 1971, I could never get off to play because we were out doing Bier Fests etc.
WHen we returned in 1974 I played for the station and then was selected for RAF Germany which was a nice little number with tours to Holland and Denmark plus every season we hosted a County team at the start of the season. We had Lancashire one season, complete with Bumble, who was a mate, Frank Hayes, Big Clive etc. and it was a great time. We also hosted Middle*** and Glamorgan in other seasons and alway had a great time socially, even if we were getting murdered at cricket!

Sounds a bit like Nelson, the Zoo is one of the top attractions there.

When I was a kid the outdoor pool was the major attraction, we traveled all the way from Bacup to enjoy it.

Depends what your interests are, BT. Lille is certainly not Nice or Cannes. As an industrial area it has its own character.

EuroStar runs into Lille, so it should be OK for an hour's trainspotting.
