Think it's the fleece or the fleet. It's the year they opened the bypass the last time I was there so a good few years ago.
Landlord was a big bloke with a fisherman beard always cracking snap

That must be some time back. Fleece Inn in the village square. Nice pub but never eaten there.

Will give those a try brin/wan.
In the summer we went to Brigg garden centre. Decided to go hunting for a pub. Drove for about 7 or 8 miles down country lanes and found a cracking pub. This village had 4 houses, 2 bungalow and a pub. Pub was huge. Prob seat over 200. Woman who owned it was polish when we went in there were a handful of people in there.
she said have you booked ! I obv said no. She smiled and said "we can squeeze you in". Me n the Mrs thought she was being sarcastic n smiled back.
We had a couple of carvery and with in the hour it was heaving. It was obv a popular place though where they came from gowd knows

Shut about 10 years ago, maybe longer.

Sizzling Pubs as well as the Greene King ones who do the "flaming challenge" also have plenty of grilled meat dishes.

    There’s always masons in Wentworth

Menu is small which is the downside but food is quite good and it’s got that old retro last of the summer wine feel to it

I don't mind traveling as long as it's not outside the realm
where folk don't know what a bread cake is and insist on calling it a bap
For a steak house The Bells at Silkstone if you don't mind travelling over the border into Barnsley and paying quite a bit more than carvery prices. Looks like they are in the process of updating the menu according to the website https://bellssteakhouse.com/

The Strines Inn used to do a very good mixed grill and it was enormous. Not sure about now though quite a long time since I last went.

Very picturesque run out on a nice day, heading out of Sheffield heading towards Ladybower down a little lane. It's round about the Derbyshire border but just about still in God's Own County I think
