Starting north of the border, Tavernier scored yet another one from open play as Rangers won 2-0 at Ross County. Likewise in League 1, Sam Hoskins can't seem to stop getting on the score sheet as he scored the only goal in The Cobblers 1-0 win at Cheltenham. JCH got the opening goal but Posh capitulated and ended up losing 4-2 at home to Paul Warne's black and white army.

A couple of ex-loanees find themselves on the naughty step as both Jake Forster-Caskey in Stevenage's 0-0 draw at home to Portsmouth in League 1 and Farrend Rawson in Morecambe's 2-0 loss at Harrogate in League 2 picked up red cards.

In open play, Matt Crooks scored as Middlesbrough won 3-1 at Bolton and Freddie Ladapo grabbed one in Ipswich's 2-2 draw at Reading but they still went on to win 3-1 on penalties.

Perusing through penalty shoot out action, Smudge scored but Will Vaulks missed as The Owls bowed out at home to Mansfield, Matt Derbyshire scored as Bradford beat the glamour boys of Wrexham, Sean Raggett scored his effort but Pompey bowed out to Posh and Leo Hjelde scored his for Leeds and so did Curtis Tilt for Salford in a marathon eventually won 9-8 by the underdogs.

Some dodgy penalty takers tonight as Newport missed 3/3 and Crewe went one better missing 4/4.

Yet again James Tavernier pops up with a goal for Rangers in their Champions League game at PSV but he needs to concentrate on his defensive duties by the looks of it as they were hammered 5-1 and now fall into the Europa League.

In the Championship Freddie Ladapo grabbed a pair of goals as Ipswich came from 2-0 down to beat Cardiff 3-2. Jon Swift scored for WBA who lost out 2-1 at home to Huddersfield.

Nothing of note in L1/L2 but in the National League Will Grigg grabbed a goal as Chesterfield won 4-3 at Aldershot.

Great goal from Hibs, dreadful defending from Aberdeen.

Christian Doidge chases a lost cause and keeps the ball in play on the right. He chips it back to Joe Newell, who has all the time in the world to lay it off for Adam Le Fondre and the substitute crashes home a sweet strike.

Vickers gets on pitch because of a red card, he could finally get his chance in next game but I won’t be surprised to see the card rescinded tbh

Not a lot of action today, just a couple of goals to report as both Will Grigg and Ollie Banks score late to give Chesterfield a 3-1 win over D&R and keep them in the mix at the top of the National League.

Meanwhile, Cheo waxes lyrical about hobnobbing with Europe's best as ROI play France and the Netherlands in the space of a week.
